Creation of Basketball

Basketball was invented in December 1891 by Dr. James Naismith, a Canadian physical education instructor, while working at the International YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts.
It was created as an indoor sport to keep students active during cold winters.
The original game used a soccer ball and two peach baskets as goals.

Naismith wrote down 13 basic rules for the game, many of which still influence basketball today.
The first official game was played on January 20, 1892.
Basketball quickly spread across the United States and internationally through the YMCA network.
The sport became part of the Olympics in 1936 in Berlin.
Today, basketball is one of the most popular sports worldwide, with professional leagues like the NBA showcasing top talent.

The Michael Jordan era refers to the period in the NBA, primarily from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s, when Michael Jordan dominated the league.
Jordan played the majority of his career with the Chicago Bulls, wearing the famous number 23 jersey.
Known for his incredible scoring ability, clutch performances, and competitive spirit, Jordan became a global icon for the sport.

Won 6 NBA Championships with the Bulls (1991–1993, 1996–1998).

The NBA has evolved dramatically from its early days to the modern era.
Changes in playing style, athleticism, rules, and media coverage have shaped how the game is played and experienced.
From slow-paced, defense-heavy games to fast, high-scoring, three-point-focused basketball, the sport has transformed for players and fans alike.

Then (1940s–1980s): Games were lower scoring, with a focus on post play, mid-range shooting, and physical defense. There was less global exposure, and many players held second jobs in the offseason.
The three-point line was only introduced in 1979, and the game relied more on big men like Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Now (2000s–Present): Modern NBA is faster and more focused on spacing, shooting, and athleticism. Superstars like Stephen Curry have made the three-pointer a central part of the game.
Global exposure has exploded, with international players becoming stars and games broadcasted worldwide.
Technology, analytics, and sports science have improved player performance and fan engagement.
