Despite the humourus photo found above, the earliest of humans were not giants who ate giant steaks, but foragers, meaning they gathered:
in order to sustain themselves. Early humans werent the top predators in their enviornment, so survival meant a mix of gathering and scavenging. they likely ate anything that was available, including plants, fruit and remains of animals that had been killed by predators.
It took a long 1 million years for one of the most curcial developments for human foods history, the discovery of fire. The fire brang along with easier digestion, increased nutrition and better safety. evidence suggest cooking meat provided more calories, essential to survival.
Roughly 2 million years later, the big bang of the history of human food happened. The discovery of Agriculture. Humans were able to harvest grains, legumes, furits and vegetables. Not only were these foods amazing nutrition, hey were inredibliy low effort compared to taking down wooly mammoths with spears while hollering. Humans did however still hunt. They relied on both hunting and farming for sustainable and sorta comfortable lives.
Despite this time period being a huge 3million years, thruoghout the entire time humans considered food solely as a neccescary source of nutrition, essential to survival.
