About Us

Our History

Skyline's journey started in 1981, when Hylton Hensman, the founder of Skyline Enterprises, acquired farmland on the city side of Mt Ngongotaha. On March 10, 1985, Skyline Skyrides Rotorua was inaugurated. Over the past 30 years, this iconic attraction has welcomed over eight million visitors to experience its Gondolas.

For many Kiwis, riding the Gondolas for the first time is a cherished childhood memory, and it remains a classic New Zealand experience for generations.
